About
Welcome to 5m2i, or 5 Minutes 2 the Internet. My goal is to transform Tech Support, Troubleshooting, Repair, Reuse, and Recycling with the ethos of Mutual Aid. My focus is to repair, refurbish and generally make older tech useful again, preventing it from ending up in a landfill. My goal is to bring the tools needed to access the internet to as many people as possible. I do this by refurbishing hardware, sourcing replacement parts economically, and providing the education needed to use your tools effectively.
The name of this venture is based on a realization I had after years in the computer repair and tech support field that many issues can be solved in around 5 minutes using a structured troubleshooting method.
For that reason I offer a troubleshooting session of around 5 minutes and if I’m able to solve your problem, there’s no charge. 100% free. If the problem isn’t solved I’ll offer an estimate or provide additional resources to get it working.
At least once a month I will collect older, unused, and unwanted hardware directly from the public. I’ll attempt to repair or refurbish them, collect any useful parts and drop off anything unusable to the City’s e-waste collection site.
Devices that can be brought back to usability will be donated to Mutual Aid groups within the Chicagoland area or sold depending on the amount of time and parts are needed to get them working.
